26.02.2010 The Network of Associations of Victims of Terrorism (NAVT) wishes to express their astonishment concerning the proposal for negotiation from the self-named group "Friendship" by the Spanish State with the terrorist group ETA
NAVT declares the self-named group Friendship to be illegitimate for their profound ignorance of the current situation in which the people of Spain live, for the absence of other voices and representatives not connected to the independent, radical Basque extremists within this group, and for becoming an authentic platform for the launching of totalitarian ideas
NAVT also laments that the Members of the European Parliament who are members of Friendship have made no effort to learn firsthand the reality of ETA's victims in Spain and cordially invites them to do so at any time.
No peace process is viable in the long term without justice and compliance with the law.Negotiations at the margin of moral recognition of the victims imply benefits for the violent.Arbitrary releases of terrorist prisoners and/or collaborators, done in favor of political movements, makes a mockery of the victims, society, and the fundamental European values of justice, liberty, and security
We demand that the European Parliament, in the same way that the demands of the violent are heard in Parliament, listen to the voice of the victims of terrorism affected by this evil, particularly to the voice of the Spanish terror victims still suffering the terrorism of ETA
We ask the Spanish Government to commit in defence of the victims and for the implementation of the Rule of Law to victims and executioners
